Consume Penetrant is a wetting agent, spreading agent, penetrating surfactant, and anti-evaporant all in one that is best used as part of a spray mix to control hard-to-kill noxious and woody weeds. It’s designed to improve the results of herbicides formulated with well-known ingredients like glyphosate and metsulfuron.

Consume Penetrant is recommended when dealing with weeds with hard-to-wet, waxy, or hairy leaves and foliage, or when navigating hot, dry, or wet application environments. What is Consume Penetrant used for?

Consume Penetrant is used to enhance spray mixes when better penetration is required – for example, in unreliable weather conditions or when a plant’s leaves and foliage are waxy or hard to wet. It is a highly penetrating surfactant, and also offers the benefits of a wetting agent, spreading agent, and anti-evaporant.

While Consume Penetrant has been designed for best use with potent herbicides like glyphosate, metsulfuron, Grazon Extra (a combination of triclopyr, picloram, and aminopyralid), it can also be used to improve the performance of fungicides, insecticides, and miticides.

Can Consume be used as a general-purpose wetter?

No, Consume Penetrant should not be used as a general-purpose wetting agent for weed killers. It’s been specifically designed to provide surfactant benefits in spray mixes, for contexts where weeds are hard to kill or have difficult-to-penetrate surfaces, like waxy or hairy leaves and foliage.

How do I mix and apply Consume Penetrant?

To mix Consume Penetrant, first add your herbicide (or other compatible product) to water when the tank is roughly 30% full. When the tank is nearly full, add Consume Penetrant following the Directions of use and general mixing rates. Finish filling your tank, then the mixture can be used.

What is the general mixing rate of Consume Penetrant?

The general mixing rate of Consume Penetrant is 1 to 2mL per every 1L of water. When mixed at 100mL to 100L of water, a 20L drum of Consume is enough penetrant to mix 20,000L of spray.

Organosilicone penetrants such as Consume Penetrant are incredibly effective at reducing surface tension, more so than any other common type of adjuvant. They have excellent spreading capabilities and can also increase the rain fastness of your chosen herbicide. As a result, they are the most effective option when attempting to address plants that have proven to be difficult to eradicate or are exhibiting signs of herbicide resistance. Penetrants are ideal for tackling weeds in challenging hot, dry, or excessively wet conditions. Non-ionic surfactants such as Reactor Wetter 600 reduce surface tension, allowing herbicides to coat the plant’s surfaces more effectively. It is generally stated that using an organosilicone penetrant (i.e. Consume) will guarantee the best results.

We strongly recommend adding a wetting agent, adjuvant, surfactant or penetrant to woody weed herbicides such as Grazon Extra. We suggest a penetrant made from Polysiloxane (i.e., Consume, Reactor or Eurochem Penatrant) to guarantee the best kill. They are premium wetting agents, spreading agents, penetrating surfactants & anti-evaporants all in one. They are recommended in spray mixes for hard-to-kill, noxious & woody weeds. Polysiloxane penetrants provide the best kill on weeds with hard to wet, waxy or hairy leaves/foliage & in challenging hot, dry or wet application conditions.

Tips For Use

General Instructions:

Consume Penetrant Adjuvant is an organosilicone-based surfactant containing a unique blend of various polymers.
Consume should not be used when temperatures are less than 10 °C.
Consume Penetrant is a highly efficient wetter/spreader/penetrant.
Consume Penetrant is effective with most agricultural chemicals unless otherwise stated on the label.

Mixing:

Mix Herbicide/Fungicide/Insecticide/Foliar Micro-Nutrient product with water when the tank is about 30% full.
When the tank is nearly full, add Consume Penetrant.
Complete filling tank.

While Consume Penetrant Adjuvant has been proven to be a highly efficient surfactant, timing, weather conditions, method of application and/or mixture with other chemicals not specifically recommended are beyond the control of the seller. Therefore, the user should carefully observe spray deposits, rate efficiencies, compatibilities and effectiveness in initial applications and adjust the adjuvant accordingly.

Protection of Wildlife, Fish, Crustaceans and the Environment:

Do not contaminate streams, rivers or waterways with chemical or used containers.

Storage:

Keep out of reach of children.
Store in the closed, original container in a cool, well-ventilated area.
Do not store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight.

Safety Directions:

Keep out of reach of children.
Do not get on skin or on clothing.
Causes eye irritation.
Do not get it in your eyes.
Harmful if swallowed.
Avoid breathing vapour or mist.
Avoid using products in a manner that directly or through drift exposes workers or other persons.
Always follow the precautionary statements on the label of the pesticide(s) that are to be used with Consume Penetrant.
Applicators and other handlers must wear goggles or a facial splash shield; chemical-resistant gloves, such as nitrile rubber > 14 mils or neoprene rubber > 14 mils; coveralls or long-sleeved shirt and long pants; shoes plus socks and a mist filtering respirator.
After use and before eating, drinking or smoking, wash hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water.
After each day, wash goggles, face shields, gloves, and any contaminated clothing.

First Aid:

If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131 126.
If skin contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and wash the skin thoroughly.
If in the eyes, hold your eyes open, flood them with water for at least 15 minutes and see a Doctor.
